Times, Seasons, Blood Moons: Cleansing of the Feasts
A prophetically inspired article
Before you check out and don’t read on because you have heard way too much about “blood moons,” the Lord has been speaking to me a message that is not at all what some prophets and other folks in the church have said about them. Our God wishes to give GREAT PEACE and JOY to us and I feel very inspired to write this prophetic article regarding the diverse views of our times, the season we are in and the signs in the heavenlies. I know the Holy Spirit is helping me to write in order to bring balance and hope to many.
To begin, His first words to me are “Do not fear!” He says this a lot in the Bible to folks that are in a variety of potentially frightening situations. That tells me He is not in the business of scaring those whom He loves. There is much going on that looks very scary to us and there are potential life shattering events poised to occur, but these things are not always what we think they are at first glance and we must remember that Father God is in control.
What grabbed me is how much peace and joy I have despite the world’s situation and despite difficult things in my own life. This message from my Father in Heaven has changed me. What also grabbed my attention is how extremely special this series of eclipses are and also how extremely special it is that we are alive to see it. We are a hand selected group of people on the earth right now to whom this gift, and reminder, is given.
Father spoke to me that the message in the blood moons is simple…in fact, the longer I walk with God I have found nearly everything that He does is simple so we can understand it. The key words to concentrate on in this case are: The Blood. It is a message to the people of the earth that we have nothing without The Blood, the cleansing Blood of Messiah Jesus. It is a reminder to the Church and to Israel that the only cleansing for sin is The Blood.
To the church it is a profound message to not forsake the core message of the Gospel. Salvation is only found in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Too many churches have stopped teaching about the blood. This has greatly weakened the body of Christ. This 4 times reminder is an exclamation orchestrated by the Creator of the Universe to remind us that we must return to the Word of God and honor the Blood of Jesus.
That the moons will occur at the commanded feasts of Passover and Tabernacles two years in a row is even more significant. It is a repeated message to Israel that salvation is not in their works striving for righteousness and making amends, it is not in a tashlik service, it is not found in their traditions or in religiously keeping the feasts and Sabbaths, it is found in the shed blood of the Lamb (Passover) who wishes to inhabit their hearts as Savior (Tabernacles). This message holds true for all humankind!
Additionally, for those of us in the part of the body of Messiah Jesus that have recognized the significance of the feasts and have learned about them and celebrated them because Jesus did. The Lord has shown me something even more profound. The blood moons are a sign He is cleansing His feasts for both Jew and Gentile who are destined to celebrate together as one new man in Christ Jesus.
The rabbi’s over the centuries have added many things to the feasts not recorded in Torah (The Bible); especially so for Passover. Stuff that is myth and teaching tools at its best and nothing but kabalistic mysticism and occult at the worst are included. These things are recorded in the Talmud which in Israel and among the Jewish people carries as much weight and is, in fact, followed more closely at the feast times than is Torah. This has caused a mixture of the base and profane with the Holy, not only in the Jewish camp, but within the Christian camp that celebrates the feasts.
Listen carefully: This mixture has a powerful draw to it. It is fascinating to read the Talmud or to study snippets of it on the internet in conjunction with the feasts. It can and does capture the imagination. The problem is the words are taking on weight and replacing The Word. These mixture teachings have so infected parts of the body Christ that there are folks who once powerfully served Messiah Jesus in freedom who are now bound in religious Talmudic tradition. Some have fallen to kabalistic beliefs. They are now held captive and this grieves the very heart of God.
The moons then are a sign as well that the blood of Jesus is cleansing the feast times and His intent is to return His people to the only thing that will bring atonement for sin and that is the BLOOD of Jesus and thereby the purity of His Word. He is NOT telling us as Christians to stop celebrating the feast times, He is calling for purity in the celebration.
Father spoke to me at Passover to get everything out of our celebration that was not Jesus. We had always identified that which was added as a teaching tool (salt water, parsley, and kharoset are teaching tools) and took out those things totally not biblical (the egg), but that was not enough. God did not want us to do anything that He did not call for in His Word. What JOY and Freedom we had to have only the elements of the feast that speak of Jesus!
Now, He has told me to include nothing in any celebration of the feasts that He did not ask for… Wow! The cleansing blood of Jesus is redeeming everything about the feasts and aligning our celebrations more fully with His Word!
With that instruction I have taken another look at the Fall Feasts. This article is about the Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teruah), known as Rosh Hashanah, and Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur). Future articles will expand to Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot), Passover (Pesach) and Pentecost (Shavuot). I especially want to write about Passover. Our experience was so liberating and profound when we celebrated Passover without the additions, that I will be completely rewriting our Passover Study Kit.
Rosh Hashanah? Feast of Trumpets?
This may shock some of you. God did not name this feast either Rosh Hashanah, which means Head of the Year, nor did He name it Feast of Trumpets. The Rabbi’s gave the feast both of these names. It is called Head of the Year in the book of Ezekiel chapter 40 one time and that is the name the religious leaders adopted for their civil new year. God didn’t direct them to make it their new year or call it Rosh Hashanah. His first month is at Passover.
God calls this appointed time: Yom Teruah (ter roo AH) which means Day of Joyful Shouting, Blowing, Proclaiming, Announcing and making Noise – all to Him. We are to honor Him with our voices and instruments – it is a day of Noisy Joyful Praise! It got named Feast of Trumpets partly because the loudest sound the Jews could make to the Lord was with shofars. It is a wonderful joyful blowing. As well, it was traditional to blow the shofar on Holy Days to announce worship was commencing. To keep Yom Teruah, the religious leaders added more shofars to make a loud blowing noise to the Lord… but, it was also to be a SHOUT and joyful proclamation by the people. Father God loves to involve everyone in worshipping Him!
When the original Hebrew words are studied in connection with this feast, the word Shofar is NOT used in either Leviticus 23 or Numbers 29:1 in conjunction with Teruah as the name of the feast. It not Yom Teruah Shofar it is only Yom Teruah in Leviticus and it is called Yom Teruah Teruah – with a double use of the word in Numbers. God himself, therefore, did not specify trumpets. He specified shouting, blowing, joyful proclaiming and making noise! The shofar is just one of the many ways we can make noise to the Lord of Lords and King of Kings!
Psalm 33:3 best describes Teruah: Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a shout of joy!
Yes! Shout to the Lord all the earth during this most Holy feast!
The good news is our God also shouts over us! He speaks wonderful things into the earth and launches brand new things every Fall.
Zephaniah 3:17 The Lord your God is in your midst, a victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.
Psalm 105:43 And He brought forth His people with joy, His chosen ones with a joyful shout.
The new things God does every year are no doubt part of why the Rabbi’s felt like Yom Teruah was the New Year. Even more important the feast cleansed them from sin for a whole year beginning with this day of Shouting to God, making noise to Him and blowing the Shofar. Followed by 10 days of Awe at what God is about to do. Culminating with the Day of Atonement when specific blood sacrifice was made for all the people and the sins were placed on the head of a scape goat by the High Priest. That day their sins were rolled over for another year, awaiting the time for Jesus to come and be the once for all sacrifice and scape goat. He atoned for all of those centuries of rolled forward sins, all current sin, and all future sin.
Wow! That deserves a huge SHOUT! TERUAH!
As followers of Messiah Jesus, we can really make a joyful shout and a noise unto our God because we have received, embraced and live our lives cleansed by the Day Jesus Atoned for our sins. With an exclamation point that He now tabernacles with us in our hearts. The next blood moon will occur during Feast of Tabernacles and that too will release more purification and more separation of the base and profane from the Holy.
Jesus wants a clean temple in which to dwell (tabernacle). He wants joyful fellowship under the open heaven He bought for us as we enjoy the bounties of fruitfulness He produces in our lives and the bounty of the provision He has given to sustain us.
As you enter this new season lift up a joyful shout of Thanksgiving to our God! He has done great things for us! TERUAH!
