Wisdom Beginnings

The Beginning – Part 5 “Wisdom Beginnings” by Rev. Cheryl Birch

wisdom

This morning I woke up quoting this verse: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10

This verse has been on my heart all morning and it is not abating.  I strongly believe it is a word that we must all grab onto in these tumultuous times in our nation and the world. It would be easy to launch out of my own heart on this one as there is so much evidence we, the body of Christ, are NOT walking in much wisdom these days.  However, my style when the Lord gives me a verse, especially one I wake up with, is to meditate on it for a time and find all the places in the word of God where something similar is said. That way I can get a clearer picture and more full understanding of what Holy Spirit is trying to tell me.

Here is what I found:

And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, And to depart from evil is understanding.’” Job 28:28

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever. Psalm 111:10

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7

The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom, And before honor is humility. Proverbs 15:33

The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding,   The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. Isaiah 11:2

These verses became personal as I allowed the words of the Lord to penetrate. They sent me a completely different direction.  Instead of looking outward at what is happening around me,  I realized I needed to ask Holy Spirit for these “Wisdom Beginnings” for ME.  Of course, the greater body of Christ needs wisdom too, but this time it was a message the Lord was giving me first. I needed the reminder. From that revelation came the heart of the message the Lord is asking me to share today. When we receive a word, or a scripture is highlighted by Holy Spirit, where do our thoughts on it go first? And, do we ever consider that where we are applying the scripture is not fully what the Lord is trying to tell us? It matters not in this question of the moment whether we tend to turn the scripture outward to the church, or the world, or inward to our own lives.  Very simply, whichever way we have applied the scripture, is that the fullness of what God is saying to us or have we missed it?

Scripture is a very powerful thing! The good news is no matter where we wholeheartedly apply it, there will be results. It will always create a new beginning.  Yes, every time you receive a scripture, grab it, and apply it something new is started! It is a seed that can grow, mature and bear fruit. However, when it was given to us or highlighted for a specific purpose and we miss that purpose, the magnificence of what Father God wanted us to experience with Him is delayed. A grand powerful new beginning, a launching into a new season, freedom from what has bound us or others, deep intercession for a city or region of the world, can be delayed and even missed.  Why? Because we are living in presumption and not living our lives in the fear of the Lord.

So, does that mean we are to be shaking in our boots before a punishing condemning God and not doing anything until we are totally sure or He will strike us with lightning? No, absolutely not! He is the author of grace and mercy. He is love itself. Instead, look at it this way: The fear of the Lord means we honor Him above all things, we love Him so much and want to be like Him so much that we take time to sit with Him, listen to Him, yield to Him, and that we desire only what He desires. It also means we take the time to ask Him to explain to us what His word means and where to apply it rather than assuming. There is no fear of the Lord in assumption and presuming. It is all driven by our own heart and thoughts and concerns.

What I needed personally was a reminder to take time and consider all applications of the scripture I woke up with this morning. I needed a personal wisdom beginning through honoring Him so that I could gain supernatural understanding through His counsel and might.  That led to turning away from the evil of assumption and presumption and toward God’s heart and mind and plans.  It is the sitting with the Lord for a time and asking Him to quicken His Word that makes the difference. Once we do that and express our willingness to do things His way, He WILL give us what we need!

Then as it says in Isaiah 33:6 “Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, And the strength of salvation; The fear of the Lord is His treasure.”  There is a treasure house of wisdom and knowledge available to us every day in every situation and it is found in the heavenly treasure chest marked “The Fear of the Lord.”  Each nugget found there can launch us into something gloriously new in Him and in our lives. When we become new, everything around us begins to change and reflects His goodness.

On another occasion I may be launched into immediate deep intercession for the body of Christ. But, today, my prayer is that the word of the Lord would change me, that I would honor Him more, and gain the wisdom and knowledge I need to represent Him well. And to obey Him by sharing my findings with all of you. Yes, Lord, give us all “wisdom beginnings” I pray, in Jesus Holy Name!

With much love and joy to you,

Rev Cheryl

Beginning = Love One Another

potter hands

And now I plead with you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we have had from the beginning: that we love one another. This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it. 2 John 1:5-6

In my walk with our Lord I have found over and over again that every ending means God has developed in me a greater capacity to keep His commandment to love one another as He has loved us.  (John 15:12) This increased capacity to love as He loves creates a new beginning and He opens new doors for me to walk through in order that I may demonstrate His love in fresh new ways.  The hard part of this process is always the ending of a season, especially if that season has been the center of my life. The closing of a door can be confusing if it is something I had come to rely upon or had thought I would be part of forever. It can be painful as closing doors always means I have to let go of something whether its my opinions, habits, status and position, financial, or even people. Often the new door is not clear and I have needed to let the old door close in obedience following the leading of Holy Spirit without knowing exactly where I am going or why.

In this process of beginning, for I am determined to look at each ending situation no matter how painful as an exciting new chapter in my life, I have always been amazed at how ready I am to take on the new role. And, at the same time, how totally unprepared I am to take on the new role. Holy Spirit has made sure I am more like Christ Jesus than I was before. He has reformed my pot so to speak to be sure I am the vessel He needs. Because of that I find I have the capacity to love the new people being placed in my sphere of influence, but I must fully rely on Him and Him alone to navigate the circumstances of every new encounter.  It is uncomfortable for my flesh, fear can arise, and yet as I choose to rely on Holy Spirit it is an adventure that creates renewed passion and zeal for God’s Kingdom purposes.

More than ever, I know that Change is Good! In fact, change is vital in our lives. We must be in continual change toward being like Christ or we wither and become dead and dry in our walk with God. That spiritual withering will affect our natural life. All of life can become bleak when we refuse to accept endings and new beginnings. Our choice to not go through the preparation, to not let the potter change our pot, means our capacity to love as He loves is limited. There is no growth in Him. We become stuck.

This is the crux of what the Lord would have me share today: Stay movable, flexible and spontaneous. Let go of all that is not like Him as He reveals it. Let Him build capacity in you to love as He loves, even if that means there will be great change.

People are waiting on me to walk though each season of preparation. They are waiting on my endings and my beginnings so that I can be part of their lives and they can be part of mine. They are waiting on His love that will flow through me. This process is vital to building the Kingdom of God. The same is true for YOU and YOUR life!

Be blessed as you yield to the Potter’s hands of change! May he fill your “pot” to overflowing with His love!

New Beginnings

The Beginning

The Lord God in His infinite wisdom is ending some things right now. This is a world wide event affecting entire nations and also regions, cities, and individuals like you and me. Endings can be a bit disconcerting, confusing and sometimes down right scary.  This is especially so when it is all going on at one time.  It’s hard to remain at peace or understand our role when we are seemingly in constant crisis or crisis is constantly happening around us.

How vital it is right now that we, the body of Christ, get a handle on what is going on from heaven’s perspective! The last two postings I made were reminders that God is in charge, He loves us, He has chosen us and that He has had a grand wonderful plan from the very beginning.  Secondly, its important to constantly remember that we are still in a time of GRACE and new beginnings are available daily.  We not in a time of judgement and wrath, but we are in a time of intense battle and world-wide spiritual struggle for nations (for the souls of the world). It’s ugly out there, not because God is pouring out judgement and wrath, but because the demonic forces are trying to kill as many people as possible to prevent them from ever knowing Christ Jesus as Savior. It’s even uglier because so many people flowing in the evil of their own hearts and are coming into agreement with the demonic plan to wipe out all that God created in the beginning and said was good, especially humankind.

He is speaking to me prophetically that we are in a dynamic COURSE CORRECTION. He said He would make our crooked paths straight and be a lamp to our feet. He is doing just that RIGHT NOW! The old road is ending and the new road is upon us.  In this course correction comes SHAKING and AWAKENING. Even more than that: REFORMATION.  God has a plan to end all that has caused us to be asleep to His ways.  He wants to REFORM our thoughts toward Him, our priorities must change to His priorities, our hearts need to be AWAKENED to His heart for our nation, state, city, and our lives. The worldliness of our lives must be SHAKEN and TRANSFORMED into His Kingdom lives.

Throughout this process, His heart is to give us insight into the beauty and blessing of what He is causing to happen around us to counter the enemy’s assault. And, He wishes to renew our HOPE and TRUST in HIM! Yes, I did say beauty and blessing. Despite the bad things happening, despite the intense demonic activity and the evil intent of men’s and women’s hearts, there is beauty and blessing afoot that the whole of creation has been groaning for. He is about to reveal His sons and daughters who have been in intense preparation for such a time as this.  They have preceded the greater church body in Shaking, Course Correction, Awakening, Reformation and Transformation. For the past several years their lives have been shaken to the core and they have learned the ONLY way to live is to be totally dependent upon God.  They do what they hear Him say and what they see Him do. They have made hard choices, they are have given up much, they are practicing and waiting on His timing. (Read the Green Room and Purging Revival)  And, that timing is SOON!

As Father God brings to an end the current model of doing church that reflects man’s interpretations of Christianity and turns His kids toward building His Kingdom here on earth so it reflects HIM and HIM alone, the  heavenly beauty of it will be stunning!!! The darkness will flee and the harvest of the earth will begin. It will be the Kingdom of God here on earth as it is in heaven.  I hear Him say to us all: Let Me shake you loose of all that binds you. Let Me teach you how to hear Me. Let Me help you to reflect Me. Yield to Me, draw near to Me and I will draw near to you. Do not be afraid. What is ahead is what you have been waiting for! Together we will take your nation and it will be a reflection of Me!

Truly a new beginning for the body of Christ is just ahead!

“The Beginnings”

“The Beginnings” – Part 2 of The Beginning

Beginning

How exciting to be part of the wondrous things our God is doing in the world! We are headed rapidly to the grandest new beginning of all time when He recreates the earth and returns it fully to a reflection of His glory.  In the mean time, I am learning from my times with Holy Spirit, praying and studying His Word, that we, the body of Christ, need a refresher course regarding “the beginnings” we have already received. In fact, too many of us are focused right now on the end of our beginnings instead of the amazing times in which we live. Fear is overtaking many in the church as they look at the apparent growing darkness in the world and wonder if they will survive the bad things going on and/or those situations described in Revelations. Some are into debating how much suffering and wrath God will pour out and how long they will go through the punishment before Jesus’ return. And, others are totally focused on the rapture of the church and hiding out praying He will get them out of here as Paul says: “Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.” (1 Thessalonians 4:17)

Yes, things are getting a little crazy in the world, but let’s pull back from that fear, ditch our obsessive focus on the rapture, receive the good news that “God so loved the world” and “All good things come down from the Father of lights above”and stop hiding out from wrath and judgments that have not come. Grab truth of God’s word! Really, believe the Word, we are still in the time of GRACE! And, it’s very hard to be salt and light while hiding. In fact, Jesus said we are to let our light shine! Instead of overreacting , let’s look at who we are in Christ Jesus and what we are suppose be doing until His return, for we are not to have a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. If that is the case, then we are to be walking fearlessly in love and power and thinking like our God!  Let’s begin to live in our beginnings that are new every morning and stop focusing on when they will end and how hard life has become or believing the lie that God is judging us all and pouring out His wrath. Maybe things aren’t as bad as we think!

In my last message, we looked at two grand and magnificent “In the beginning” statements. The first occurred in Genesis Chapter 1 when God said “let there be light!” And the second occurred in John Chapter 1 explaining that Jesus, the Word incarnate, is that Light. Humankind had a glorious beginning of being one with God and, frankly, blew it. The really hard to believe part is this: When God said “let there be light” all things were created through that Light, through Jesus Christ. Knowing humankind would mess up (because He is omniscient and all knowing), Jesus created everything and created Adam and Eve anyway. The plan for our redemption was in place at the dawn of all creation…Selah.

So, when His timing was just right Jesus came to earth. God sent Glory Himself, the Light of the World, to restore  the oneness with Him we had thrown away. Christ Jesus became our blood soaked sacrifice, once for all bridge, back to relationship with the Father. Wow! What a wonderful new beginning for humankind!

Now there is a wide open door for every single one of us to experience a personal new beginning for all eternity and those gracious new beginnings He generously gives us daily. And, that my precious brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, is what we are suppose to be focusing on. Our job is to have relationship with a loving, wonderful, gracious, glorious, magnificent God through Christ Jesus. Then, with Holy Spirit’s help, we are to model Christ, to be a reflection of Him in the world, to be demonstrators of the Father’s love, grace and mercy just like Jesus was when He was here. We are to be people of hope, secure in our beginning, our salvation and relationship with Christ. To believe God is good with open arms full of new beginnings and to share that Good News.  He has chosen YOU for that purpose of relationship, of walking in new beginnings, and of sharing those beginnings with others. He has chosen YOU to be a blessing and person who blesses! He has chosen YOU to stand against the evil pouring out in our world (that is the darkness going on, not His wrath) and bring His loving light into every situation.

But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle.

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.  2 Thessalonians 2:13-17

More on “in the beginning” and our role in “new beginnings” is on my heart. Watch for my next post.

With Love and GREAT JOY in our Lord,

Rev. Cheryl

The Beginning

The Beginning – Part 1

As I was praying and asking Holy Spirit to guide me in what to read and study the next few weeks, I heard in my heart so clearly: The Beginning. Amazingly, a moment later I opened my Bible randomly and it was to the book of John Chapter 1. The first words are “In the beginning.” That “coincidence” certainly convinced me that I had received a “God-impression!”

WIN_20170829_100518

So, I started my study on “the beginning” with John chapter 1: “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.” I had written across the top a while ago; This Word is Jesus and Jesus is this Word! The chapter goes on to say: “He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not comprehend it.

Those first verses got me thinking about creation and Jesus the Son of God, the light of the world. Genesis 1:1-5 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.

Everything that was made, was made through Jesus. All good things, all things with a purpose to bless, from the very beginning of our world were created through Jesus. When light appeared it overcame the darkness,  What was void and formless it goes on to say, began to take on form and pattern. That pattern it says in John Chapter 1 was ALL reflective of Jesus, the Word incarnate, the Light of men.

So, the beauty of a flower, the intricacy of a living being, the complexity of a human being, the sweetness of a kitten,  the strength of the mountains, the loveliness of a grassy meadow, the power of rushing waters, the stunning majesty of a sunset or sunrise, the orderly pattern and design of the nature and the heavens, the spectacular variety and creativity found in our world (and so much more) are ALL a reflection of Him through Whom it was created.

Much gets blamed on God, but nothing dark, ugly, diseased, evil, deadly or malformed came from Him. That all that bad stuff entered our world when the first of humankind, Adam and Eve, opened the door for darkness to rule instead of light. These evils and banes in our world are reflective of the work of that old serpent, the devil and our human willingness to partner with his twisted and perverted plans to make God’s lovely creation hideous.

The most marvelous thought about this first day of studying “the beginning” is that even as all creation was formed through Him, Jesus knew the door to darkness would be opened and the purity and beauty of His creation would be tainted and twisted by evil. The magnificence of creation, the beginning, is that He also knew the end and all that would happen in between, including His death and resurrection. Yes, including the plan to redeem humankind and give us the opportunity to answer Him when He calls our name out of darkness into His marvelous light.  And, eventually, when the time is right, He will remake the entire earth into a place that is once again, totally reflective of Him.

Now, we have that which reflects Him in part. Soon, very soon, we will have “The Beginning of all Beginnings” when He revisits the earth as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.  In the mean time, my prayer is that we all learn how to be reflections of Him in the earth as much as is possible. Let us step into our personal new beginning and be His light in our world.

Peace and Joy in our Lord!
